Here is our timetable for the week. We will be looking at making connections with what we read during our reading sessions. We are continuing our focus on take away in maths and we are all looking forward to our dance showcase on Thursday at 12:20 (this is not reflected on the timetable but it is definitely happening!)
Today we had an awesome time at Music is fun. The band was fantastic and played lots of different instruments. Some of us got to participate in some of the songs. One of band memebrs even taught us how to write a song. He said that every song follows a two step process…
Choose an emotion: Every song has an emotion. A song could be happy, sad, angry or excited.
Step Two: Choose a topic. Every song needs to be about something.
He made up a song right in front of us on stage it was an excited song about football. He was pretty clever!
Check out some of the photos.
Here is part of one of their songs (sorry about the quality!)
We have started off the term in a very busy fashion and straight into swimming lessons. Well done to everyone who remembered their swimming gear. In today’s lessons the instructors spent a bit of time getting to know our swimming ability do they can plan out the week with perfectly matched activities. Our lessons start at 2:00pm all week long!
One of the activities we participated in for World Colouring Day was the painting of a giant banner. Each class got to make a variety of colurs using the three primary colours. Today we unveiled the banner that was created it looks pretty awesome! It is extra special because every grade one student participated in the creation of the banner! Check it out…
What did you do for World Colouring Day?
Do you know what colours you can make by combining some primary colours?
Today we were treated to an excellent show at Eastbank Theatre by a group that is called the ‘Pants Down Circus” WE were actually really glad that all the performers kept their pants up! We saw heaps of great acts and going to the show has made us very excited for the upcoming junior school production it is hard to believe that in less than two months we will going back to Eastbank theatre this time to be on stage!
Check out a few highlights below…
What was your favourite part of the show?
Today we all got dressed up in our house colours and put on our sneakers for the whole school fun run. It was good weather (it didn’t rain!) and everyone seemed to be having lots of fun. The fun run is a major fundraiser for our school and any money raised goes towards upgrading some of the equipment we have in our school. Thanks very much to everyone for your hard work and contributions!
We got very active in the lead up to the fun run and now, just because it is finished doesn’t mean we should stop. Let’s keep going and try and get active everyday!
What do you do to keep active during the week?
